Personal Statement

Ceramics is an exciting medium and Inspiration can come from many sources. Most of my pieces are hand built, made by coil building, however nothing is ruled out, there is always the constant exploration of different techniques using new materials. I particularly like the unpredictability, each vessel I make is a surprise, as most of my work is an experiment of processes. I continue to produce raku decorative vessels; although my “triffids” are constantly evolving into new shapes in different colours. I have also been making “triffids” in high fired stoneware which makes them not just decorative but perfect to hold plants. There are also a number of new vessels, some made from porcelain, part mould and part hand formed, plaques, some with glass decoration, some new glazes, also decorative techniques, who knows where things will lead me this year.
