Working in acrylics and oils, ROB CORFIELD’S paintings are large, bold and colourful. Paintings are often semi abstract and inspired by the sea and countryside of West Sussex.
The subjects reflect Rob’s love of sailing, cycling and being outdoors. Many of the paintings exhibited will be based on Dell Quay.
Meet Rob at the Dell Quay venue 20 during the Art Trail in May.

A multi media artist who specialises in glass, Karen Ongley-Snook is known for her garden pieces following successful showing at RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court.
Karen works with many media , including printmaking and jewellery making. Colour always plays an important part in her work, the emotional response to the different colour combinations, and as an ex dancer movement is a constant inspiration too.
There’s always lots to see and new work to discover. Now Karen has her teaching studio she is able to share her knowledge and experience at the various workshops on offer.

To illustrate MAUREEN BRIGDEN’s passion she works instinctively using different clays locally sourced clay from Chichester harbour. This clay has a debris of past times including stones, roots, organisms and ferrous metals left over from previous occupations.
The process of hand-building and firing the work renders it vulnerable, capable of sagging, or at worst, collapsing, drawing parallels with the human condition.
Maureen will be opening her Chichester studio to visitors of the Chichester Open Studios Art Trail in May.

MARY MARMERY trained at Middlesex Uni with ceramic

MARY MARMERY trained at Middlesex Uni with ceramics as a subsidiary subject. Since retiring from teaching she has been working with clay in her studios in the garden first whilst living in London and now in Bosham since moving here.
Mary makes handbuilt wares which are fired outside using variations on the ancient Japanese Raku firing process. The pots are high-fired quickly to 750 - 1000 degs.C in an outdoor furnace and whilst still hot are removed from the furnace and placed into a small metal container with combustible materials which ignite on contact with the hot wares. A lid is placed over the work creating an almost airtight environment which begins the process of reduction creating surfaces ranging from iridescent and metallic colours if glazes are applied or black and white surfaces created directly onto the white body of the clay, a process commonly called ‘painting with smoke’. Due to their outdoor firing of Raku, smoking or pit-fired the results are unpredictable making each piece unique.
Mary’s inspiration is drawn from various sources of Ancient Greek Pottery of the Cycladic era which give rise to the pot-bellied forms as well as small sculptural figures.
Mary is opening her Bosham studio during the Chichester Open Studio Art Trail in May.

PAUL MAHONY was a commercial fishermen for 30 year

PAUL MAHONY was a commercial fishermen for 30 years and when weather was adverse, using his metal working skills, he made gates and did repairs. Paul was often asked to make garden items and firepits as they were the trend and people wanted their own bespoke product.
Because Paul wanted to be able to make finer items, he did evening classes for 3 years to perfect his skills, and he spend many hours experimenting and make ornate embellished metal flowers using traditional forging techniques as well as modern day plasma cut butterflies, bees etc.
Paul’s work is a mix of bespoke and functional pieces of art and upcycled materials as much as possible. His workshop tool-set comprises of many traditional tools as well as modern day equipment.
Paul will be opening his workshop Itchenor Marina boat yard
during the Chichester Open Studios Art Trail in May.
