This 8 bedroom Grade II* Listed Georgian town house, dating from 1720 with older parts, is centrally located within the City walls and only a few minutes’ walk from the Cathedral, Pallant Gallery, Festival Theatre and shops. It has a walled garden, ample free car parking and the separate Coach House is an ideal rehearsal venue for musicians and actors or for meetings and the Chichester Art Trail.

History

Inside, this much-loved family home has a magnificent staircase and oriel window as well as many original features and an extensive cellar dated to the reign of James I (1603 to 1625). B&B guests may use the Drawing Room (with open fires in winter), and browse the books, magazines, and pictures throughout the house. There is a Bluthner grand piano and a large selection of games, toys and jigsaws to suit all generations.

Bedrooms are classically furnished to suit the Georgian architecture and the beds are, of course, comfortable. A wholesome breakfast in the elegant dining room with locally sourced produce and homemade marmalade will set you up for your activities. The city has a magnificent Cathedral, art galleries and museums, and an excellent theatre. The Goodwood Estate, West Dean College and the South Downs National Park are only a few miles away as are Chichester Harbour and the Channel coast.

North Walls House has been the Wakes’ home since June 2016 and underwent two years of renovation and sympathetic installation of 21st Century facilities. They are experienced in hosting groups of guests for the Chichester Chamber Concerts, the Festival Theatre, and families/friends exploring this beautiful and historic area. Claire’s culinary skills are renowned and she is not fazed by the need to produce wholesome meals for large numbers. She is a music teacher and orchestral double bass player. After a long career in the maritime industry, at sea and ashore, for which he was awarded the OBE, Philip now manages the business side of an international Suzuki music course and is Chairman of the Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society, Chairman of Wolsey Lodges Ltd, a Vice President of the RNLI and a Trustee of Chichester Chamber Concerts.

Beautiful countryside, sandy beaches, historical and family attractions surround this Wolsey Lodge. It is near Goodwood, Portsmouth, numerous National Trust and other stately homes, the South Downs and the Channel coast so caters for the activities of all ages.
