An opportunity not to be missed!

Sarah will be doing a Raku Firing Demonstration at her Studio, Pottery Corner at Venue 76

No. 45 Deeside Avenue, Fishbourne, on Saturday 12 May between 10am and 1pm (weather permitting).

Art Trail visitors will be able to see the set-up of the Raku kiln with explanation of this exciting and sometimes unpredictable ceramic firing method.

Items are heated fairly rapidly to 1000°C and then put into a reduction metal container with sawdust/combustible material and then starved of oxygen. This process is pure alchemy with interesting glaze results with copper and metallic flashes which are not often obtained with traditional kiln firing.

Sarah runs Raku Firing courses (as well as other clay related courses) throughout the year.
