About the artist
Pen and Ink paintings of English garden flowers arranged into words for children’s name commissions and printed as cards.
Personal Statement
I have always loved painting flowers and making and giving cards. A family member asked me if I would paint in roses her daughters initial and this started the idea of painting words in flowers ,picked from my country garden 10 years ago.
Having worked in the NHS for 30 years this has been a relaxing hobby for me and one which I hope to have time to pursue further now I have retired.
I choose flowers and greenery that suits the letter then I arrange the flowers into generic words and draw in pen and ink and then use watercolour paints .
I very much enjoy the process and was encouraged further after doing a 2 day pen and ink botanical course.
I have continued to paint designs and now have them printed into cards which are for sale in a few shops around the country.
I also paint commissions of children’s names when the flowers are in season.
I have enjoyed exhibiting at Stansted flower show in the past and Midhurst craft fairs and Brocantes , and I look forward to exhibiting at the Chichester Art trail for the experience and meeting the other artists & visitors
