Hand Carved stone sculptures both figurative and contemporary
Personal Statement
Although Johnny has had training at the Portland Sculpture & Quarry Trust and on courses in West Sussex, he is pretty much “self taught”.
In reality much of the stone that Johnny has carved was unearthed during major works to his house within the South Downs over the last 7 years. Currently the stone and oak plinths are sourced thoughtfully and locally.
Carving the local Malmestone is difficult, depending on the heights of the layer that the stone is excavated from, it is etiher very hard or very soft (chalky layer). The stone has many natural fissures and may crack during the carving process.
His work has been exhibited and is in private family collections.

Directions
The entrance is 400 yards beyond Goodwood Airfield heading towards the Trundle, on the left almost opposite main entrance to Goodwood House.
