Personal Statement
Sarah Lloyd was born into a fishing community where the family business was paint. She describes herself as an artist practitioner who uses a variety of medium to navigate her creative process and contextualise the living landscape. She has recently completed an MA Painting at the Royal College of Art (2024/25).
Lloyd considers herself a wayfarer and explorer of the world through a kinaesthetic approach. She attempts to capture the sounds, sights, touch and smells of the environment to create a synthesis of psychological and physical experience.
A sense of journeying and movement imbues the work with rhythm and life. The exploration of materiality (for example the use of collage and frottage) gives depth and as such, delivers a layered approach.
Lloyd lives between Italy and UK and her work is influenced by both cultures. The sense of the ridiculous, absurd and uncomfortable are dealt with in a playful manner to explore what it means to be human in a complex world.
