Carol Naylor
About the artist
Machine embroidered textiles inspired by the Sussex Downs and sketchbooks
Personal Statement
Carol creates her richly textured embroideries by using her sewing machine as a means of drawing and painting, stitching directly onto painter’s canvas.
Many of her works reference the South Downs in England and she always works from direct observation. She lectured for many years before going freelance.
She exhibits and teaches widely both across the UK and internationally. Her work is represented by Primavera Gallery, Cambridge, and she welcomes visitors to her studio in Chichester.
