Contemporary still life acrylic painting inspired by everyday objects to create joyful, inspirational art works.
Personal Statement
Inspiration
My work is inspired by everyday objects, bringing them together to create joyful and inspirational artworks, mixing colour, shape and form to create eclectic work of depth and vitality
Media and process
Monoprinting, screen printing, acrylic painting, crayons, ink and collage are at the heart of my work. I have an experimental approach that allows me the freedom to work how I choose, untrammelled by convention, bringing a refreshing informality to the fore.
Meaning and intention
My artworks encompass my love of the ‘ordinary’; objects and plants that can be found anywhere, creating something special and unusual from the commonplace. But I also want my work to be accessible through recognisable forms that are presented with a blending of colour and unusual dimension that is both eye-catching and pleasing.
I have a successful background in textile design, and my work reflects my love of colour and pattern that extends into my painting. Using past skills and processes to develop a new way of working with paper and canvas, I am creating a way of working that fills me with joy and a sense of purpose, reinterpreting past skills through new media and materials.
