About the artist
I make jewellery, decorative assemblage, automatas and collage using largely recycled and repurposed objects.
Personal Statement
I am a self taught artist/maker. I have always loved being creative but became more involved after a period of poor mental health. I find being creative is therapeutic.
I make pieces using mainly recycled objects, and I find I am often inspired by the objects themselves. I am fascinated by religious iconography and may use a contemporary idol and turn them into my version of a greek icon collage, or be inspired by alter pieces/ciboria and create a version using broken jewellery. I use broken jewellery to create elaborate mirrors and candlesticks. I love taking something unloved and useless and creating something beautiful, preventing it from ending up in landfill. I also make jewellery using recycled objects such as Barbie dolls or vintage tins
I was on series 2 of Grayson Perry's art club, with an assemblage piece called Warrior Carer. This illustrated the battles of being a full time carer.
