About the artist
Fused glass seascapes and landscapes in the form of wall art, freestanding pieces and re-purposed vintage windows
Personal Statement
My glass artwork utilises the colours and textures of glass fusing materials and techniques as a fine art medium, an intuitive and painterly response to an image or drawing, further enhanced by the surprises created during the glass kiln firing process.
Some of my current work focuses on re-purposing vintage and antique window frames, replacing the original glass with my own fused glass seascapes and landscapes, inspired by the window itself.
Fundamental to my glass artworks are my own drawings in pastel and charcoal, which can provide the inspiration and starting point for my glass work, or become pieces of art in their own right.
I have a background in Art and Design including a BA (Hons) Design degree, with a career working in Design then teaching Textiles and Art.
I ran Artworks, an independent art studio, for 17 years before taking the decision to focus solely on my glass art.
I'm part of the Artisan Gallery co-operative in North Street Chichester, and exhibit locally on a regular basis, including the Sussex Art Fair at Goodwood, Oxmarket Gallery in Chichester, and the Emsworth Arts Trail.
