Personal Statement
As a semi-abstract landscape artist, I work primarily in acrylics and mixed media, immersing myself in the raw beauty of nature. My creative process is deeply influenced by the landscape of the SouthDowns, Cumbrian Fells and the rugged cliffs of Cornwall. These landscapes evoke expansiveness with wide open skies and dramatic rock formations with which I try and capture the light, movement and texture of the earth with gestural marks, layering with an array of tools. By working in this way, it can allow the viewer to not only see the landscape but can feel the space I am portraying.
Working from both sketches and photographs taken during explorations, I translate the impressions left by nature in my studio.
I have studied at West Dean College gaining a Foundation Diploma Art and Design and at Newlyn School of Art. In 2025 I won 2 awards for my landscape paintings in exhibitions in Hamsphire and Sussex. I have exhibited in East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Cornwall and Glouscestershire.
