Sandra Hawkins

I started painting in 2019 and am a self taught watercolour and mixed media artist.

I particularly enjoy experimenting with colour vibrancy, texture and mark making.
Not everything works, but when I discover a new technique, usually by accident I
like to think it creates my own unique style. Keeping an open mind allows the
process to develop and gives a more spontaneous feel.

My influence is from the surrounding landscapes and seascapes on my doorstep.

My sketchbooks have become a valuable source of inspiration, allowing the freedom
to experiment without pressure. I make notes as I go along which is useful reference
at a later date. What happens in my sketchbook is often a small snapshot of a finished
painting. Following the journey from concept to completion is an exciting process.
