Katrina Wakefield

My art is very much connected to my deep love of the Sea and the natural world, which I want to explore more of!
For me painting has been an exploration of my inner and outer worlds, gathering/ learning skills and experimenting along the way. This means embracing fears, staying curious and allowing myself to make mistakes, whilst holding an inner belief that I can do this. I love working on large canvases as it gives me a sense of expansiveness and freedom. Most recently I have discovered the joy and playfulness of mixed media which I used in still life and seascapes .I enjoy accentuating the colours of nature and have a fascination for capturing moving skies and water . I have also found a love of re-purposing bracklets and neclaces into earrings , which is abosorbing and medative .
