Kate Mercy

I am a glass fusing artist. I have a deep appreciation for the beauty and versatility of glass. I draw inspiration from nature and the interplay of light and colour.

I first gained a fascination with glass from a one day glass fusing “taster session” after which I self taught myself the techniques and methods of glass fusing. I now test the boundaries of working with glass and experiment with different textures, shapes and colours to create pieces that are both playful and beautiful.

My works include decorative and functional pieces ranging from placemats, plates, dishes and bowls through to wall art and sculptural pieces. On a commission basis I have undertaken a number of projects working with the customer to achieve larger pieces.

My work has been shortlisted for a number of exhibitions and competitions receiving appreciation and praise for my unique and striking pieces.

I also share knowledge and expertise through giving workshops and demonstrations to inspire others and pass on my appreciation for the beauty of glass.
