About the artist
Wheel thrown and hand built pottery using a range of clays, oriental glazes and Raku fired pieces.
Personal Statement
An exciting range of wheel thrown and hand built pottery using a range of clays and oriental inspired glazes. Work ranges from large bowls and vessels to smaller functional stoneware and porcelain pieces to eat and drink from.
Forms celebrate the particular qualities of the clay body, textures and strengths. Pieces are turned and finessed with additional marks and decoration before being bisque fired.
The glaze finishes further enhance the surface by the firing processes be this the reduction firing or the raku firing process. Glazes are devised from recipes and have been refined and developed over many years of practice
Influences come from the local environment, the Downs, Chichester Harbour and the Sea.
Thomas trained as a 3D designer at Loughborough College of Art specializing in Ceramics before becoming a qualified Teacher of Ar And Design.
Over the weekends there will be demonstrations of Rake firing and working on the wheel (weather permitting).
