Personal Statement
Ceri Amphlett is an illustrator and poet. Her drawings and poems are full of surprising reversals: becoming a dog, turning upside-down in Paris, and finding yourself holding on tight to a swan. She has a keen interest in simple handmade book forms as a vehicle for poems and drawings and has designed and printed a number of her own books of drawings and poems, using risograph, screen and digital printing. Her book Itchy Eye, a collection of drawings and poems, was reviewed in Pressing Matters magazine: ‘Her words feel like captured thoughts and lyrical ditties to the everyday, with her inky brush drawings adding a sense of mayhem and ‘jazz’ to the whole thing. Her own words, her own world. And it’s a fun place to visit, that gets you thinking about the small things and how words can make them great.’
