Debs Moran

Educated at the Berkshire College of Art and Design and Goldsmiths College, London. My work is inspired by my local landscape in West Sussex, both the South Downs and Chichester Harbour. The light is vivid and the skies ever changing. I paint mostly abstract landscapes, sometimes purely abstract, but even this aspect of my work is strongly influenced by the local landscape. For me, exploring the intuitive process of abstract artwork in relation to land and seascapes is compulsive and rewarding. Allowing myself to step back from planning an outcome is the biggest challenge and the most rewarding when I can allow it to happen. Colour blending is of particular interest to me. I like to change my palette often and find vibrancy of hue, along with textural experiments help me to fully engage with that process – always the aim in abstract work.
