Janet Woods-Lennon
About the artist
Silver jewellery, fussed glass pieces and paintings.
Personal Statement
With my jewellery I like to take a piece of inert metal and twist and form it into life. I love how I can use texturing, folding and forming techniques to give a flat piece of silver a three-dimensional shape. I source recycled sterling silver sheet and wire, with occasional accents of gold, for my designs.
My glass is formed from small pieces of glass called frit that I use on clear glass to from pictures. I also like to use the scientific properties of the elements used to colour glass to create pattens.
My paintings are a celebration of the colour and light of our landscape. I am inspired by the sky in this area and the sunsets over our Selsey beach have been particularly relevant. I use mostly either water soluble oils or watercolours for my work.
