Personal Statement
My art journey started when I retired in 2019.
I am a watercolour artist with a curious mind and a willingness to experiment to achieve mood, texture and colour vibrancy.
My influence is from the surrounding landscapes and seascapes on my doorstep.
Recently I have also introduced geological forms and represent them in a semi abstract way, incorporating a lizard or turtle to add a focal point.
I usually start a series of ideas in my sketchbook, which allows me the freedom to experiment without pressure. I sometimes do the opposite, giving myself a limited time to produce a painting without overthinking. Both approaches can be exciting and produce surprising yet quite different results.
