Personal Statement
Caroline Bonar is a contemporary textile designer, who specialises in hand painted silk.
This year Caroline has expanded her collection, and will be exhibiting her hand painted silk scarves and accessories together with her bags, which are sewn from upcycled sails.
Each silk piece is individually designed and hand painted - which makes every item a unique piece of wearable art.
Caroline has been recently experimenting in silk and cotton with various resist techniques, including batik, shabori and sashiko stitching, to add interest and depth to her designs. These techniques create beautiful and timeless pieces, which are vibrant and exciting.
Her bags are made in various sizes from small totes to large holdalls - each one is carefully designed to keep the character of the sail. These bags are versatile,
durable and environmentally friendly.
Caroline's exhibitions have included Galleries, Open Studios, Affordable Art and Coast magazine.
She has sold her work internationally.
