Personal Statement
My work is about ideas of transformation. How nature can become otherworldly and take us to place of the imagination. Drawing from what’s around me visually and emotionally I hear the magnolia whisper in the spring light. I also look at fairy tale, memory, and mythology for inspiration. I also reference old masters in some works as well taking from a variety of contemporary sources. Sometimes a figure will emerge from the dense, entanglement of gestural marks or the abstracted painting itself will be a metaphor for the female, love, and loss. I use intense colour, dense vegetation to create these expressive works. In my studio and my home, you will see a variety of small and very large works on canvas and on paper. Sketches and materials will be available to observe. I hope this will be an enjoyable experience.
I have a B.A and M.A with distinction. I have exhibited widely in the UK and overseas.
