About the artist
Hand thrown ceramics for the home and garden
Personal Statement
My introduction to pottery was when I was living in Japan in the late 1980s. I was impressed with the respect and reverence paid to ceramics there. I learned to hand build and throw and to appreciate a variety of styles of pottery. On my return to the UK, life got in the way of pottery and having children and a career in teaching took first place. I resumed my pottery journey a few years ago. I recently moved to the South Downs and have been able to spend more time on pottery, taking on a studio of my own. I love to experiment with different styles and techniques. I am influenced by Japanese ceramics and have a love of colour and texture. I like to make things that are both functional and (I hope) pleasing to the eye and senses.
