Personal Statement

I completed Art Foundation at Portsmouth and went on to study for a degree in Fine Art painting at Norwich and Cardiff. Art Teaching became my career for many years after achieving an ATC at Goldsmiths. During these years I inspired hundreds of students how to develop their skills in drawing and painting. Many were inspired to take their artistic skills further into a qualification and a career of their own. I am now free to explore my own personal creative work full-time here in Chichester.
I feel I am in a state of exploration and flux with my art work which is both exciting and scary for me.
I have always loved to to depict realism and detail in my work and would now like to incorporate a more painterly and expressive element to my outcomes. I am also exploring a more surrealist approach although this is still in its infancy........
My inspiration is always from a first-hand source, whether interior or exterior, close up or distant, natural or urban.
I love to challenge myself to explore different approaches in painting so my work on show at the Open Studio will be very varied!
