Personal Statement
Ali’s work has a long-term focus on the interaction between man and nature in both the local and Indian context. This series on the Trees of India explores the relationships between humans and trees in urban settings and natural environments.
Intaglio etching of photographs create beautiful, uniquely fingerprinted images.
Photogravure/intaglio printing is a specialised technique and Ali is one of a handful of people doing it in the UK. Hand inking the plate allows for artistic interpretation of light and tone, enabling the final printed pieces to have an almost sculptural quality. These will be presented as signed, very limited editions.
