About the artist
Large botanical subjects and portraits in watercolour and coloured pencil. Pet portraits in chalk pastel.
Over 40 years since my school art lessons I picked up a brush again and started painting botanical subjects. This lead to a couple of short corses at West Dean College with a botanical artist from whom I learnt to hone my skills. Having painted a wedding bouquet as a gift I was commissioned to paint another which in turn led to another commission. My paintings have got larger over these past seven years as I like to show the details of my subjects be they flowers or vegetables, they are now up to ten times larger than life. I've been selling giclee printed blank cards of my work for several years and I exhibited at an art show locally last year and sold work which leads me to exhibit more in 2024. I discovered the joys of coloured pencil recently and incorporate this medium into my watercolour paintings to add definition and depth of colour. Chalk pastel is another newish medium to me and it seems to lend itself to pet portraits well.
