My name is Maria and my creative journey started a long time ago when I became enchanted by dolls and fantasy creatures. From a very early age I was fascinated by creating figures and characters. My figures always gave me refuge and comfort, an escape from a hostile environment. I went to an art school as a teenager in my home country Latvia and art has always followed me through happy and difficult times. Despite trying conventional jobs, the call to sculpt and create prevailed. After having kids, I delved into crafting art dolls from air-dry clay, later expanding into clay and porcelain. My creations, described as ethereal and elegant, draw inspiration from the intricate details and expressions of Art Nouveau in Eastern European architecture. Working with natural elements, fabrics, and oxides, I weave unique, modern approaches into porcelain figures, creating a distinctive artistic narrative.
