Pauline Sheppey

Retiring from a career as a Horticulturist, I now live in a painter's paradise. With patient dog, camera and sketchbook, a 5 minute walk from my home studio takes me to sand dunes, the beach, yacht club, the harbour, the nature reserve and a woodland walk to Pagham Lagoon. Other subjects include the many wild birds in and around my garden and still lifes of the produce I grow as well as well loved everyday objects. Valuable lessons in watercolour with Bridget Woods, sculpture with Alexandra Beale and 13 years on going life drawing with Daphne Casdagli have encouraged the inclusion of figures in my work. Often in a theme series, I work simultaneously across several paintings, enjoying the cross pollination. The paintings often suggest the medium I choose such as pastels, acrylic or oils. I paint in my Pagham garden and home studio, amongst my flowers, listening to the birds and waves. I sell some of my affordable painting, prints and cards on Etsy. 20% of the card sales will be donated to the Snow Drop Trust.
