About the artist
Ocean inspired artisan jewellery, crafted in recycled precious metals & including seaglass, cuttlefish casting, lampwork beads & ghost rope.
Personal Statement
In December 2015 I combined my love for the ocean with my Goldsmithing & Jewellery degree, to create Selkie Jewellery; a brand led by artistry, passion, and a conservation ethos. My passion is creating handcrafted jewellery in recycled precious metals, using all traditional techniques- including my signature cuttlefish casting, and combining found objects like ghost rope and sea glass to create one of a kind pieces- no two cuttlefish castings are ever the same, like a fingerprint, creating a truly unique piece each time. My jewellery collections include pieces in aid of conservation charities like Marine Conservation Society and Shark Trust. I also love to create bespoke pieces working with customer’s own designs, or taking a precious once loved item and re-making it into something new. Big or small- repairs, alterations and re-makes are all under the Selkie umbrella. I also run workshops from the studio, where individuals, pairs or small groups can come to learn to learn new skills & create their very own jewellery items, including anything from a small silver piece to wedding & engagement rings!
